Brazil’s Ministry of Finance has highlighted the growth of the country’s betting self-exclusion platform, revealing that more than 600,000 users have voluntarily blocked their access to licensed gambling operators, as demand for the tool continues to increase.

The figure was disclosed in a video published by the Ministry outlining the measures introduced since Brazil’s regulated betting market launched in January 2025 through the creation of the regulator Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA).

According to the Ministry, the self-exclusion tool allows users to block access to all federally licensed betting operators through a single platform. The system is part of a responsible gambling framework that also includes spending controls, time limits and identity verification requirements.

The video states that licensed operators must now verify customers through document checks and facial recognition systems, while all authorized betting websites must operate under the “.bet.br” domain.

The Ministry also highlighted enforcement efforts against illegal operators, stating that more than 45,000 unauthorized websites have been blocked in cooperation with telecommunications regulator Anatel. Authorities have also shut down more than 800 bank accounts linked to fraudulent activity and taken action against influencers accused of promoting illegal gambling services.

The Government further noted that participants in its new debt renegotiation program are prevented from accessing betting platforms for one year as part of broader efforts to support financial recovery.

The publication received support from the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR), which praised the Ministry of Finance and the SPA for promoting awareness of regulated gambling and efforts to combat illegal operators.

In a statement, the organization said it supports the regulation of betting operators and the Federal Government’s actions against clandestine gambling platforms.

“Gambling is entertainment and should take place in a safe environment for bettors, under clear rules,” stated the institute.
