Kalshi has asked several paid influencers to remove social media posts that questioned the integrity of the Los Angeles mayoral election, following accusations of election interference and growing scrutiny of political betting content.
The company confirmed it asked affiliated creators to remove content after they posted claims suggesting the race was being manipulated while also advertising election betting odds through paid partnerships.
The dispute began after a group of right-leaning influencers on X raised questions about vote counting in the contest between reality television personality Spencer Pratt and Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman for second place.
One of the most widely shared posts came from influencer Gunther Eagleman, who has more than 1.7 million followers on X. He questioned whether California officials were trying to prevent Pratt from advancing and implied the election was being “stolen” from the former reality TV star. The content spread widely across social media platforms.
Other influencers also highlighted concerns about late mail-in ballots and voting tabulation patterns while posting prediction market odds. Some referenced pricing from Kalshi, while others pointed users to rival platform Polymarket.
Kalshi spokesperson Dani Lever said: “We’ve asked these to be taken down, as they violate our affiliate marketing policies.”
In separate news, former US Representative George Santos is reportedly the subject of federal investigations into his activity on Kalshi.
Santos publicly stated he would attend President Donald Trump's State of the Union address, but ultimately did not appear. He had previously wagered on not attending the event and profited after the market moved in response to his public comments.
