Lotería Correntina and the Corrientes provincial government in Argentina have launched a public awareness campaign aimed at parents and guardians, highlighting the rise of illegal online gambling among minors and placing family dialogue at the center of its prevention strategy.
The campaign, titled "Hablar con ellos es empezar ganando" ("Talking to them is a winning start"), deploys graphic materials, digital content and a video spot that directly challenges parents: "I bet you never talked to your kids about illegal online gambling."
The message responds to a documented gap: data cited by the organizers shows that 40% of young people report never having discussed the topic with anyone in their household, a factor researchers consistently identify as a key vulnerability driver.
Beyond the messaging, the initiative carries a regulatory reminder. Licensed platforms in Argentina operate with identity verification mechanisms, and authorized sites can be identified by the ".bet.ar" domain, the official marker for operators with a legal license in the country. The campaign also notes that gambling is prohibited for anyone under 18 in Argentina, a threshold that illegal platforms routinely bypass.
The effort is part of Lotería Correntina's ongoing responsible gaming program, which the institution frames as extending beyond licensing and enforcement to include the social protection of at-risk populations.
Corrientes Lottery authorities said: "Listening to them, supporting them and talking about the issue is also a way of protecting them. Because talking with them is where prevention begins."
Lotería Correntina previously produced a documentary titled "Apuesta Invisible" (Invisible bet) as part of its responsible gaming programming, indicating that this campaign is part of a broader multi-format effort to address gambling-related risks among youth
