Blackhawk Network (BHN) has introduced its Game On Ontario gift cards, marking the Canadian launch of its multi-brand betting payment solution and providing players with a new way to fund regulated online sportsbook and casino accounts.
Available across Ontario, the gift cards can be purchased in-store and online in denominations ranging from CAD$20 ($14.28) to CAD$250. Players can redeem the cards across multiple participating licensed operators by entering the card details when funding their accounts.
According to BHN, the product is the first multi-brand betting gift card available in Canada and has been designed specifically for Ontario's regulated market.
Issued by Peoples Trust Company, the cards can only be used with licensed operators within the province and do not expire or incur post-purchase fees.
BHN said the cards are intended to provide a secure and convenient payment option while also supporting responsible gambling by allowing consumers to pre-set spending limits through fixed-value purchases.
The Canadian rollout follows the successful launch of Game On in the US in 2020. BHN noted that a previous promotional campaign involving four US retailers generated a 181% increase in Game On gift card sales, highlighting the product's commercial potential for retailers and gaming operators.
The company said it is also exploring opportunities to expand the Game On product into additional Canadian provinces as regulated online gambling frameworks continue to develop.
The launch adds to a steady stream of activity in Ontario's regulated gambling market this year, which has also seen new content partnerships, including Caesars Entertainment's deal with supplier Playson and Blueprint Gaming's exclusive Game of Thrones slot launch with BetMGM, alongside continued scrutiny of the province's reported 91.1% channelisation rate.
Ontario launched its regulated online gambling market in April 2022 and has since become one of North America's largest licensed iGaming jurisdictions
