The Danish Gambling Authority (Spillemyndigheden) has published its 2025 annual report on enforcement action against illegal gambling operators.
The regulator continues to block illegal gambling operators and, in 2025, obtained district court orders to block 334 websites. It also entered into a new cooperation agreement with the Danish Telecommunications Industry, enabling mirror sites to be blocked without a prior court order where an initial ruling has already established that the content of the original site is illegal.
On 24 October 2025, the Danish government introduced Gambling Package 1, a political agreement aimed at reducing gambling addiction and strengthening protections for children, young people and vulnerable players.
A key element of the package is the enhanced powers granted to the Danish Gambling Authority, allowing it to block websites that promote or direct Danish players to unlicensed operators.
The agreement also allocates funding to develop a tool within the Danish Gambling Authority that will automatically monitor gambling-related marketing across digital services.
The regulator also highlighted its efforts to combat illegal gambling through partnerships with Google, Meta, Apple and Twitch. In 2025, the Authority recorded an increase in complaints from Danish licence holders whose brands were being misused on Meta platforms in advertisements promoting illegal gambling.
Through its collaboration with Meta, the Authority has implemented a process that enables licence holders to report such cases directly to the platform, allowing the offending content to be removed more efficiently.
In addition, the Danish Gambling Authority works closely with international regulators to tackle illegal gambling. As a member of the Enforcement Working Group within the Gaming Regulators European Forum (GREF), it collaborates with other regulators across Europe to share intelligence, identify emerging trends and coordinate enforcement efforts against unlicensed operators.
