Cirsa has acquired a majority stake in Sociedade Figueira Praia, the company that owns and operates Casino Figueira in Portugal.
The deal marks the group's first acquisition of a physical casino in the country.
Casino Figueira is located in Figueira da Foz on Portugal's Atlantic coast, one of the region's main tourist destinations. Operating under a license since 1948, when it was known as Casino da Figueira, the venue is regarded as one of the oldest casinos on the Iberian Peninsula and also runs a restaurant and events business.
The acquisition complements Cirsa's purchase of online operator CasinoPortugal (CasinoPortugal.pt) in December 2024, giving the group both a digital platform and a land-based venue in Portugal. Cirsa said the transaction completes its omnichannel strategy in the country, combining online and in-person operations.
Joaquim Agut, Executive Chairman, said: "Casino Figueira becomes the first physical casino for Cirsa in Portugal, representing a new milestone for our history. This acquisition, together with that of CasinoPortugal.pt in 2024, reinforces our capacity to offer an integrated gaming and entertainment proposal through online and in-person channels."
Antonio Hostench, CEO, said: "Casino Figueira is an emblematic asset within the entertainment sector in Portugal with a solid track record and a management team with deep knowledge of the market.
"We are very pleased to add this casino and to have the support of its current partners in this new stage. This operation strengthens our presence in Portugal and represents a decisive step in our omnichannel growth strategy in Europe."
Cirsa said the multiple paid for the deal is in line with previous transactions carried out by the group. The acquisition will be financed with available cash and is not expected to have a significant impact on Cirsa's leverage.
The acquisition follows a series of strategic moves by Cirsa in recent months. In June, the group completed the refurbishment of its Rock & Jazz casino in Bogotá, Colombia, while earlier in July it announced the acquisition of Paraguayan operator Slots del Sol, strengthening both its retail and online presence in Latin America as it continues expanding across European and regional gaming markets.
Cirsa has recently launched a €500m ($571.7m) senior secured bond due 2032 to refinance existing debt while maintaining funding for acquisitions and future growth
