The Danish Gambling Authority has opened the application process for land-based casino licences, with successful applicants eligible to receive licences for periods of up to 10 years.

Under the Gambling Act introduced in September 2025, the Danish Gambling Authority can issue licences for the establishment and operation of land-based casinos. These licences can be granted for periods of up to 10 years.

There are currently seven active land-based casino licences in Denmark, with casinos located in Copenhagen S, Copenhagen V, Helsingør, Odense, Vejle, Aarhus and Aalborg.

All applications received will be sent for consultation with relevant authorities, including the local municipality, local Chief of Police, Ministry of Taxation, Ministry of Business and, where applicable, the Danish Maritime Authority.

Applications must be submitted by 3 November 2026. Any applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

When assessing applications, the Danish Gambling Authority will consider whether applicants can demonstrate they are able to operate a land-based casino in a professionally and financially responsible manner.

The regulator will review several factors, including the applicant’s gambling experience, financial stability and the suitability of individuals involved in the business. It will also assess the company’s management and board structure, the proposed casino project, location, size, customer base and other operational details.

Applicants can refer to the application form and required documentation for a full overview of the requirements and assessment criteria. Applications can be submitted digitally through encrypted mail via Bluewhale or through the Danish Gambling Authority’s contact form. They may also be submitted by post.
