Domestic visitor numbers increased 47% year over year

The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah welcomed more than 670,000 visitors in the first half of 2026, marking its strongest first-half performance on record, according to the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA).

Domestic arrivals increased 47% year over year, helping offset disruption to international travel caused by regional conflict.

The development of Wynn Al Marjan Island remains on track for a 2027 opening. The resort has announced entertainment and dining partnerships, including a collaboration with immersive theatre company Punchdrunk, an Alain Ducasse steakhouse, as well as the first international outpost of supper club concept Delilah.

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority CEO Phillipa Harrison commented on this development, stating: ‘’The destination remained resilient through a period that affected international travel across the region, and a record first half is testament to Ras Al Khaimah’s strength as a short-break destination. With new hotels opening and anchor developments advancing at pace, the emirate is entering its next phase of growth with real momentum.”

The emirate is continuing to expand its hospitality offering, with Rotana Ras Al Khaimah – The Mangroves, a new 258-room hotel, and SAIJ Mountain Lodge by Mantis, focused on nature and adventure experiences, scheduled to open later this year. Existing properties are also being upgraded, with Pullman Resort Al Marjan Island, a beachfront resort, set to reopen after renovations in Q1 2027. Meanwhile, Rixos Al Mairid Ras Al Khaimah, another beachfront resort, is renovating its rooms and suites.

Infrastructure projects are also progressing. A new VVIP terminal at Ras Al Khaimah International Airport is expected to open in early 2027, while Skyports air taxi operations are targeted for 2027.

The developments form part of Ras Al Khaimah's wider strategy to diversify its tourism offering and attract 3.5 million visitors annually by 2030, with a greater focus on premium hospitality, entertainment and experiential tourism.
