MGM Resorts partners with the AGA ahead of RG Awareness Month
The operator is set to undertake a series of initiatives through September
BetMGM and MGM Resorts have also contributed funds towards RG education

MGM Resorts has rekindled its responsible gaming (RG) collaboration with the American Gaming Association (AGA) as part of Responsible Gaming Education Month through September in the North American market.

Indeed, the MGM Resorts and BetMGM in tandem have announced a $320,000 contribution to RG initiatives across the continent, intended to fund the International Center for Responsible Gaming and support its 1-800-GAMBLER helpline. Elsewhere, an additional donation is also being pledged to the Evive Foundation – which undertakes active research into gambling addiction treatment.

MGM's anonymous gambling-blocking software, otherwise recognized as its in-house self-exclusion tool – GameSense – will also see its branding displayed at a total of 17 MLB and NFL stadiums across the US throughout the month, with two Las Vegas-based stadiums having been added since the 2025 campaign.

BetMGM's Chief Compliance Officer Rhea Loney commented on the development, saying: "Player protection is a priority every day at BetMGM, and RGEM gives us an opportunity to highlight those efforts. Through GameSense messaging in professional sports venues, employee education, and investments in research and support services, we are helping players access the tools and resources they need to make informed decisions."

Also commenting was Stephen Martino, SVP & Chief Compliance Officer, MGM Resorts International, who said: "What makes reaching 3,000 GameSense Advisors so meaningful is the number of employees who have chosen to take an active role in promoting responsible gaming for our guests. That collective commitment is helping us expand the reach and impact of our program across our company."

Recently, the MGM Resorts Foundation also awarded $4.6m to 211 nonprofit organizations across communities where MGM Resorts employees live and work. MGM Resorts has not been the only operator to highlight new RG initiatives ahead of September, with Hard Rock and Seminole Gaming unveiling research partnerships and education resources for its PlayersEdge program yesterday.

Also speaking on this latest development was Rob Lockwood, SVP of Strategic Communications, American Gaming Association, who outlined: "Responsible gaming has the greatest impact when the industry works together like we have with Play Smart from the Start. Our collaboration with MGM Resorts and BetMGM helps keep these important messages visible to players while supporting research and programs that can make a difference."
