It will be known this year as the Sportsbet.io Mosconi Cup

The Mosconi Cup is coming to London in December, and Sportsbet.io has just been announced as this year's title sponsor by The World Nineball Tour.

The Sportsbet.io Mosconi Cup, as it will be known, is due to take place from 3-6 December and will once again pit Team Europe and Team USA against each other for the intercontinental nineball pool title.

For four days in Alexandra Palace, the two teams will compete in singles, doubles and team matches as Team USA attempts to avenge five straight defeats.

The contest will be played out in front of the live Alexandra Palace crowd as well as being broadcast on Sky Sports in the UK and WNT TV in the US.

Matchroom Sport, which organises and has promoted the yearly event since its inception in 1994, commented on the sponsorship deal, with CEO Emily Frazer saying: "This is one of the most iconic and electric events in cue sports, and partnering with a brand as forward-thinking and globally recognised as Sportsbet.io elevates the tournament to new heights."

Sportsbet.io is a crypto-based brand owned by Yolo.com (formerly Coingaming Group) that runs an online casino and sports betting platform.

The company was established in 2016 and has since sponsored acquired multiple professional football clubs in the UK - though it is not available to play for UK based gamblers.

Owner Tim Heath and the rest of the firm will be hoping the global audiences reached through Matchroom's network of broadcast partners will prove a fruitful acquisition channel.

On the company itself Frazer added: "Their commitment to innovation and premium experiences mirrors the Mosconi Cup's own evolution as a world-class spectacle."
