The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has reported the state’s total gaming activity for August 2026, as revenue from online and land-based verticals reached $569.7m, representing a decrease of 2.2%. 

Retail slot machines accounted for the most revenue of any vertical with $213.9m but decreased 1.3%, followed by iGaming slots in Pennsylvania which drove $195.2m and managed to increase 8.8%. 

Retail and iGaming table machines generated $66.4m and $48.1m of revenue for August, respectively, equating to decreases of 18.1% and 2.6%. Sports wagering finished behind the two verticals with nearly $39.4m and fell 19.9%. 

Video gaming terminals in Pennsylvania accounted for $3.4m of revenue for a decrease of 6.4% year-over-year, while iGaming poker fell 5.2% to $2.4m. Fantasy contests was the only vertical to also report an increase in revenue alongside iGaming slot machines, rising 54.6% to just over $1m.

How have the state's verticals fared over the past few years?

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course generated the most revenue of any commercial property in Pennsylvania during August, increasing 8.1% to $109.5m. 

Valley Forge Casino Resort’s revenue for August decreased 4.4% to $94.4m, while Rivers Casino Philadelphia managed $57.5m and increased 1%. Parx Casino also crossed the $5om revenue threshold with $52m for August but decreased 10.6%. 

Parx Casino led operators in slot machine revenue after generating $31.5m, equating to a decrease of 5.9%. Wind Creek Bethlehem and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh followed with $24.9m and $22.3m, respectively, decreasing 1.1% and 0.2%. 

iGaming revenue for Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course increased 11.6% to $95.4m during August , although Valley Forge Casino Resort witnessed a decrease of 0.2% to $67.5m. Rivers Casino Philadelphia challenged the duo with $39.9m of iGaming revenue for August and increased 9%.

Pennsylvania’s sports wagering handle for August also decreased year-over-year, falling 3.3% to just over $498.5m. Valley Forge Casino Resort led all operators with $15.1m of sports betting revenue, representing a decrease of 19.3%. 

At the end of August, Pennsylvania began expanding services for residents struggling with problem gambling as calls to the state’s gaming helpline continued to grow. The Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs has now added case management services for people affected by gambling addiction.
