Louisiana’s riverboat gaming licensees generated $151m in adjusted gross revenue (AGR) during August 2026, down 6.1% year-on-year from $160.9m.

The Louisiana State Police monthly activity report showed 1.44 million admissions across the 15 licensees, while fees due totaled $32.5m. Revenue also declined 5.3% from the $159.5m reported in July.

L’Auberge Lake Charles remained the largest individual property by AGR at $28.7m, although revenue fell 4.5% year-on-year. Golden Nugget Lake Charles followed with $23.6m, representing a 12.9% decline, while Treasure Chest generated $13.8m, down 1.5%.

Margaritaville reported $12.1m, a 3.7% decrease, while L’Auberge Baton Rouge fell 12.9% to $11.8m. Horseshoe Bossier City recorded one of the larger declines among the higher-revenue properties, with AGR dropping 14.1% to $10.1m.

Bally’s Baton Rouge was an exception to the wider decline. Its AGR increased from $695,557 in August 2025 to $5.3m this August following the completion of its $141m land-based redevelopment in December 2025.

Louisiana’s riverboat category increasingly includes casinos operating from landside facilities. State law permits a qualifying landside facility within 1,200 feet of a riverboat’s licensed berth to fall within the statutory definition of a riverboat.

Treasure Chest moved from its riverboat into a $100m land-based casino in 2024, while Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana opened a $270m development in Bossier City in February 2025.

Further investment is planned. Penn Entertainment announced in August that it intends to spend approximately $195m moving Boomtown Casino New Orleans into a new landside Hollywood Casino New Orleans, subject to regulatory approval. The property is targeted to open in 2029.

For the first two months of the 2026/27 fiscal year, riverboat AGR totaled $310.6m, down 0.4%. Admissions decreased 1% to 2.94 million, while fee remittances declined 0.4% to $66.8m.

In July, Louisiana riverboat gaming revenue increased 5.6% to $159.5m, led by L’Auberge Lake Charles at $28.6m. The wider state market also recorded growth across land-based gaming, sports betting and video gaming devices during the month.
