In one of the most popular tourist destinations across North America, there is never a shortage of exciting attractions to visit each month. Global Gaming Insider continues its series by showcasing the most prominent events and shows coming to Las Vegas during October 2026 across sports, entertainment and new conferences & exhibitions.

Major Las Vegas sporting events taking place in October

NFL: Raiders look to continue hot start against Bills, Rams

Perhaps representing the most improbable start to the 2026-2027 NFL season for any franchise, the Las Vegas Raiders currently sit at 3-1 and are coming off a narrow defeat against AFC West foe the Kansas City Chiefs. Behind quarterback Kirk Cousins and defensive end Maxx Crosby, the Raiders have brought new life to Las Vegas despite many assuming the franchise would once again finish as a bottom-tier team in the NFL.

During October, the Raiders will take on the Buffalo Bills (October 18) and Los Angeles Rams (October 25), with both franchises carrying Super Bowl aspirations – and the rosters to go with them. Las Vegas will have its hands full with quarterbacks Josh Allen and Matthew Stafford, but will counter with young stars of their own in tight end Brock Bowers and cornerback Hezekiah Masses. If the Raiders could even split the two matchups, it would be a fantastic sign for their Playoff chances in 2026-2027.

WNBA: Aces advance to second round, seek back-to-back titles

After defeating the Connecticut Sun in round one of the WNBA Playoffs, the Las Vegas Aces advanced to take on the Golden State Valkyries, currently down 1-0 in the best-of-five series. The Aces have come back for similar situations prior, and will return home on October 9 in the hopes of extending the series to a pivotal game four.

Game two of the Aces-Valkyries matchup is set to take place on October 5, with record-setting four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) A’ja Wilson looking to cap off yet another tremendous season for Las Vegas. Coming off a WNBA title victory last season, the Las Vegas Aces are hoping to clinch their second consecutive championship and fourth in the past five years.

NHL: Are Golden Knights poised for big year under new head coach?

Having gotten off to a 2-1-0 start during the 2026-2027 NHL season, early excitement has built for the Vegas Golden Knights and new head coach Ryan Craig. Taking over for John Tortorella, who helped lead the Golden Knights to the Stanley Cup Finals last season, Craig was given high expectations after serving as head coach of Vegas’ AHL affiliate team in Henderson. Through three games, the Golden Knights appear to have found a quicker step on offense, although goaltending remains an issue for the franchise.

In September, Vegas will have home matchups with the Toronto Maple Leafs (October 8), Los Angeles Kings (October 10), Calgary Flames (October 15), Pittsburgh Penguins (October 17), Tampa Bay Lightning (October 20), Ottawa Senators (October 27) and New Jersey Devils (October 30). Celebrating the franchise’s 10th season since launching as an expansion team, the Golden Knights will look to honor the decade-long history with a return to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Which musical acts are must-see in Las Vegas during October?

Metallica

Perhaps marking one of the most sought-after performances to hit The Sphere entertainment venue, acclaimed heavy metal band Metallica will take over the immersive space for a lineup of shows throughout October. Metallica plans to hit the stage on October 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29 and 31, featuring shows every Thursday and Saturday during the month. Marked as the Life Burns Faster residency, the highly-anticipated eight show run will continue the band's No Repeat Weekend tradition, with no songs repeated at each performance throughout the course of the run.

Metallica has won nine Grammy awards and received 26 nominations since forming in 1981, amassing 11 studio albums and selling over 185 million units worldwide during their historic lineage. The band will carry out their Las Vegas residency through March 2027, but will only return to The Sphere for 14 shows following the October run.

Weezer

Bringing The Gather tour to Las Vegas, Weezer will take over T-Mobile Arena on October 23, celebrating 30 years since The Blue Album was released. The alternative rock band – formed in Los Angeles during 1992 – has captivated audiences across 20 studio albums, having sold over 35 million copies worldwide.

While challenging the excitement for Metallica will surely be difficult, Weezer has certainly carved out their own niche in Las Vegas, and will surely rock T-Mobile arena in the midst of a popular sports season. Marking one of the few artists who will be able to play in T-Mobile Arena during the remainder of 2026 as a result of the NHL season beginning, Weezer’s The Gathering tour will surely make an impression on Las Vegas locals, as well as those traveling to Sin City for the show.

Cardi B

Offering a different form of alternative to Weezer, Doja Cat’s Tour Ma Vie world tour arrives at T-Mobile Arena on October 31, perhaps offering a spooky theme to the global superstar’s performance. It remains to be seen what surprises the pop icon will have in store for the Las Vegas crowd, but given her prior fashion statements, Doja Cat will most certainly take advantage of her Sin City performance falling on Halloween night.

Not since Taylor Swift brought her global tour to Las Vegas has a pop artist been this anticipated, especially coming off Ed Sheeran’s performances at Allegiant Stadium during September. The mixture of Metallica, Weezer and Doja Cat goes to show the uniqueness Las Vegas can provide each month, with no difference planned for The Sphere and T-Mobile Arena this October.

Halloween-themed events coming to Las Vegas

Trick & Treats Nevada Day Celebration

For the fifth consecutive year, AREA15 will put on the Trick & Treats Nevada Day Celebration on October 30, where families are invited to kick off Halloween Weekend with Trick and Treating throughout the AREA15 District and participating outlets. The event is free-to-attend and open to all ages, providing a fun and safe atmosphere for Las Vegas young ones to begin their Halloween festivities. For older guests, the year-round Universal Horror Unleashed experience also serves as a fantastic way to spark some fear this Halloween season at AREA15.

Parade of Mischief

Throughout October, the Downtown Summerlin area will host its eighth annual Halloween-themed Parade of Mischief, featuring performances and floats inspired by Wicked, Harry Pottery, Cruella, Hocus Pocus, The Addams Family and Dia de Los Muertos. The parade is also free and open to the public, running on October 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23 and 24 at 6pm local time.

HallOVeen at Opportunity Village

Open from October 9-31, the theme park serves as a family-friendly Halloween experience which takes over a 2.5-acre space, allowing guests to walk through a cemetery surrounded by decorated trees and jack-o-lanterns, as well as enjoy rides, trick-or-treat stations and carnival games. Tickets are currently running at $24 for the event, while Las Vegas will also host a Zombie Run 5K and one-mile walk to celebrate Halloween 2026.
