Philippine online sportsbook ArenaPlus has named two-time Olympic medalist Nesthy Petecio as its latest ambassador, expanding its partnerships with athletes and other figures in professional sports.
Petecio joins an ambassador roster that includes former NBA player Derrick Rose, Philippine Basketball Association player Scottie Thompson and professional golfer Miguel Tabuena.
The boxer said the partnership provides an opportunity to reach more Filipinos and encourage younger athletes to pursue careers in sports. She also highlighted the importance of commercial support for Filipino athletes beyond their performances and medals.
Petecio has represented the Philippines at two Olympic Games, winning silver in the women's featherweight division at Tokyo 2020 before securing bronze at Paris 2024. The results made her the first Filipino boxer to claim medals at multiple Olympic Games.
Her international record also includes gold at the 2019 AIBA Women's World Championships and gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games in 2019 and 2023.
Petecio's career began under difficult financial circumstances in Davao del Sur. As a child, she participated in local boxing competitions partly because competitors received meals regardless of the result. She later progressed from local events to international competition.
ArenaPlus Head Ethan William said Petecio's career and the challenges she faced before reaching the Olympics were factors behind the partnership.
ArenaPlus, which launched in 2023, operates as a PAGCOR-licensed online sportsbook in the Philippines and offers sports betting and streaming across local and international competitions.
The company has increasingly used partnerships within Philippine and international sports to expand its presence, including associations with leagues such as the NBA, PBA and Premier Volleyball League.
