Brightstar Lottery has signed a multi-year contract extension with Spain’s Organización Nacional de Ciegos Españoles (ONCE).

The partnership continues a technology agreement that has supported the organisation’s lottery operations for more than two decades.

Announced on 22 October, the agreement was signed through Brightstar Global Solutions Corporation, a subsidiary of Brightstar Lottery PLC. The company will continue providing software enhancements and supporting the evolution of ONCE’s central gaming system.

Brightstar has served as ONCE’s lottery technology supplier since 2002, when the relationship began.

Virginia Castellano, Deputy Director General for Organisation, Talent and Resources at ONCE, said the organisation was pleased to extend the relationship.

"Brightstar is the right partner to help us continue evolving our lottery operations, reinforcing our commitment to safe, responsible lotteries with a social purpose, and enabling us to fund a wide range of social programs and services to support people with severe visual impairments and people with other disabilities in Spain," she said.

Brightstar executive Vice-President and COO of Global Lottery Marco Tasso said the company was honoured to support ONCE’s work on social and professional inclusion for people with disabilities.

"We look forward to continuing to provide ONCE with leading technology solutions for its lottery system," he added.

A few days ago, Brightstar Lottery also signed a two-year contract extension with the New York State Gaming Commission to continue providing lottery technology and services in the state. The company has also signed a five-year extension of its technology partnership with the Oregon Lottery.
