International Game Technology (IGT) has unveiled the first-ever wide area progressive jackpot games in Massachusetts in partnership with MGM Springfield, which debuted a dedicated Wheel of Fortune slots zone as a result of the collaboration.
"Launching the first wide-area progressive games in Massachusetts with MGM Springfield gives players a new way to experience Wheel of Fortune Slots as we mark its 30th anniversary," IGT CEO Hector Fernandez said.
"IGT helped shape the WAP category through decades of innovation, and this launch builds on that legacy while creating new opportunities for our customers and their players."
The Wheel of Fortune slots zone at MGM Springfield features 20 wide area progressive titles from IGT’s Wheel of Fortune slots portfolio, including Cash Link Reels Double Diamond and Triple Stars Gold Spin Deluxe.
Wide area progressive jackpot games are included within a network of connected slot titles which feature a jackpot liquidity pool that grows as more players interact with the machines.
MGM Springfield VP of Casino Operations Ariam Aponte also spoke on the new launch with IGT, having said, "MGM Springfield is excited to continue our tradition of 'firsts,' by becoming the first casino in Massachusetts to offer players the chance to win life-changing jackpots on IGT's Wheel of Fortune slots games.
"Our recently opened Wheel of Fortune Zone differentiates MGM Springfield, features an exciting mix of slots experiences and offers jackpot opportunities that are new to players in Massachusetts."
