The Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA) has begun development for its new responsible gaming (RG) certification program, which will evaluate operators' RG practices in areas such as self-exclusion, marketing, staff training and player support tools.
ROGA stated the program is "designed to establish a standardized, independent evaluation framework for online operators" and will "enhance consumer protection, promote greater consistency in (RG) practices and support continued progress across the online gaming environment."
The Association originally partnered with the Responsible Gaming Council (RGC) on September 2 to begin materializing the new certification program.
The RGC will serve as an Official Vendor for the program, having also collaborated with ROGA for RG initiatives such as the Know Your Play college education campaign.
"We are proud to work with ROGA in setting a new benchmark for responsible gambling in the online space. The new certification program will build on years of evidence-based work and experience building RG Check as a trusted standard," RGC CEO Sarah McCarthy said.
"By working together, we are creating a more transparent, accountable and player-focused industry."
All ROGA members will be required to undergo the new certification program when development has been completed.
ROGA Executive Director Dr. Jennifer Shatley also commented on the new program, having said, "A sustainable online gaming industry must be built on evidence-based best practices, and this partnership with RGC will advance this mission by building a trusted and independent assessment to certify robust responsible gaming standards.
"Our members are committed to long-term progress, and with RGC's support, this program will serve as a clear signal that the industry is backing that commitment with actions that will allow players to make informed decisions about the platforms they use."
The Association stated it looks forward to advancing the new certification program in collaboration with ROGA partners and continue supporting operators in iGaming.
BetBlocker formed a new partnership with ROGA on August 12 to provide complimentary blocking software for US players, enabling individuals to control their access to iGaming platforms
