International Game Technology (IGT) has signed a new contract extension with the Rhode Island Lottery, allowing for the continued operation of online and retail sports betting across the state through at least November 2028.

"IGT is very pleased to continue our long-term relationship with the Rhode Island Lottery through 2028 and help generate important revenue for the State through its sports betting operations powered by PlaySports technology," IGT SVP of Sports Betting Joe Bertolone said.

“IGT PlaySports continues to invest in the Sportsbook Rhode Island app to ensure the Lottery is offering a premier betting product that makes a positive impact on the State's commitments to good causes."

The gaming and technology solutions provider has been powering Rhode Island’s retail and online sports betting operations through its IGT PlaySports entity since the contract was originally agreed upon in 2018.

IGT PlaySports and the Rhode Island Lottery also collaborate with Caesars Sportsbook for retail and online sports betting, with the operator having recently extended its presence to Missouri in December 2025.

On December 3, IGT announced the official appointment of Hector Fernandez as its new CEO, following his original hiring in December 2024 for the newly merged IGT and Everi Holdings entity.

IGT and Everi finalized the sale proceedings of its acquisition by Apollo Global Management in July 2024 as part of an all-cash deal, valued on a combined basis at $6.3bn.

Fernandez previously served as CEO of Aristocrat Gaming, helping to propel market share, revenue growth and increase profitability throughout his time with the supplier.
