Mirae Asset Securities announced on January 13 that Vice Chairman Kim Mi-seop has taken part in a nationwide relay campaign aimed at eradicating illegal youth gambling, an effort organised by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.

The campaign, launched in March, seeks to raise public awareness of the growing dangers of illegal cyber gambling targeting minors, as reported by Chosun Biz. Operating under the slogan “Illegal cyber gambling targeting youths is a scam crime you can never win,” the initiative invites prominent figures across different sectors to join in succession, sharing messages of caution and prevention.

Kim joined the effort following a nomination from Shin Jeong-suk, head of Shinhan Bank. In a social media post, he shared a photo supporting the campaign alongside a message underscoring the urgency of protecting minors from illicit gambling schemes.

Illegal youth gambling is an issue that threatens the sustainability of society beyond an individual’s deviance,” Kim said. He added that Mirae Asset Securities would continue contributing to initiatives that ensure young people grow up in a safe and healthy environment.

As part of the relay format, Kim nominated two additional leaders to continue the campaign: Bae Hyeong-geun, President of Hyundai Motor Securities, and Lee Ho-seong, Head of Hana Bank. He called for wide participation across industries to help safeguard the next generation.

The relay campaign reflects a broader national push to combat youth exposure to illegal online gambling activities, which often operate through social media, gaming platforms, and anonymous payment channels. Authorities warn that such schemes not only create financial harm but also expose minors to exploitation and other criminal risks.

The involvement of high-profile Financial Executives signals growing private-sector support for the Government’s preventative strategy, which aims to curb illegal gambling by pairing enforcement with proactive education.
