Mark Rutherford, CEO of the Gambling Supervision Commission, addressed the Isle of Man Institute of Directors yesterday, alongside Bettina Roth, CEO of the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority and Erica Humphries, Financial Crime Communications and Outreach Lead at the AML/CFT Policy Office.
The session, which follows the GSC signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Spillemyndigheden in December 2025, provided an overview of the timetable for the MONEYVAL evaluation scheduled for September 2026, offering attendees a clear picture of the mutual evaluation process.
Rutherford updated stakeholders on the upcoming money laundering assessment and how the National Risk Appetite Statement reflects expected findings. Roth outlined the Financial Services Authority’s role in data collection, while Humphries detailed industry communications and outreach.
Presenters also highlighted emerging online gambling risks and the preparatory work across public and private sectors feeding into the National Risk Assessment. Speakers stressed that robust data sharing is vital to achieving a proper understanding of sector risks.
Recently, the GSC outlined its 2025 regulatory achievements and set strategic priorities for 2026, focusing on financial crime prevention, risk-based supervision and international cooperation.
Looking ahead, the GSC will conduct targeted outreach to help the industry interpret report contents. A dedicated presentation on the key findings of the Gambling Money Laundering report will be delivered at the GSC AML Forum next week.
All National Risk Assessment documents will be available on the Isle of Man Countering Financial Crime website following publication
