Novomatic has officially opened Spielbank Rostock, a modern casino facility in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, marking a significant investment in the region's entertainment and tourism sector.
The venue, operated by Spielbanken MV & Co. KG, a Novomatic subsidiary, opened its doors to the public following a comprehensive construction phase.
The facility occupies more than 1,300 square metres at Petridamm and represents a total investment of approximately €8.9m ($10.3m).
An exclusive pre-opening event hosted media representatives and guests from political and business sectors. Novomatic Executive Board Member Stefan Krenn officially launched the venue, with a speech that emphasised its sustainable investment and value creation.
Thomas Fritz, Managing Director of Spielbanken MV, also commented on the launch, stating: "With the new Spielbank Rostock, we have created an experience that goes far beyond traditional gaming.
"This project perfectly reflects our philosophy of combining technology, design and entertainment at the highest level - while embracing responsibility and innovation, all with a regional touch.
"From the very first night, we wanted to offer our guests an open and welcoming atmosphere that invites interaction, conversation and celebration."
The facility features four roulette tables, two blackjack tables, two poker tables and approximately 130 Novomatic electronic gaming terminals. Additionally, a dedicated 'Bold' event area includes space for live entertainment, themed evenings and poker tournaments accommodating up to ten tables.
The venue incorporates sustainability features including advanced thermal insulation, waste heat recovery from gaming terminals for heating and rooftop photovoltaic systems for energy efficiency.
Operations also utilise the Novovision casino management system, which manages all 130 gaming machines, jackpots, cash handling, access systems and anti-money laundering monitoring while ensuring compliance through automated checks against Germany's 'Oasis' exclusion database.
The facility is expected to create up to 90 jobs and hopes to serve as a catalyst for regional tourism and economic development.
The opening follows several recent developments for Novomatic, including the increase of its stake in Ainsworth Game Technology to nearly 60%, as well as the sale of Admiral Austria to Tipico Group in September.
Spielbank Rostock now operates as the only casino in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern offering traditional table games and modern electronic gaming
