Novomatic has completed the rollout of its Novovision casino management system at the University of Iceland Lottery (UIL), following its selection through an international public tender.
The implementation establishes a new technological foundation for Iceland’s oldest lottery operator and was finalised across all venues in early December 2025.
Founded in 1933, the University of Iceland Lottery operates with the primary purpose of funding university infrastructure, research equipment and related educational initiatives.
UIL is licensed to offer three categories of lottery products in Iceland: a traditional class lottery, instant scratch cards and approximately 500 gaming terminals deployed across 19 venues nationwide.
Lottery-based gaming plays a significant role in Iceland, where proceeds are commonly directed towards community and public-interest causes.
The introduction of Novovision is intended to improve operational efficiency while supporting UIL’s responsible gaming objectives.
As part of the first phase of the project, the system delivers functionality including slots accounting, ticket-in ticket-out (TiTo), anti-money laundering tools, business intelligence modules and the NV Smart Staff App, alongside the required IT infrastructure for all venues. Additional system features are expected to be introduced at a later stage.
The rollout was completed during live operations, with Novomatic and UIL working jointly to minimise disruption to players.
From a consumer perspective, the new platform enables enhanced integration, including the ability for players to redeem tickets online through the UIL Players’ App and receive winnings directly into their bank accounts.
Future development plans include the introduction of electronic player cards as part of an ongoing strategy to modernise operations.
The UIL partnership forms part of broader corporate activity at Novomatic. In January, the company announced a Supervisory Board restructuring that saw Birgit Wimmer elected as Chair, making her the first woman to hold the position. Additionally, Novomatic extended its takeover offer for Ainsworth Game Technology, providing shareholders additional time to consider the off-market bid for shares not already owned by the Austrian gaming group.
