Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will meet in a rematch of their first professional boxing contest at The Sphere Las Vegas on September 19, potentially helping the city return to normal visitation rates after witnessing various declines in 2025.
The Mayweather–Pacquiao rematch represents the first professional boxing event to be held at The Sphere Las Vegas, although the venue did previously host the UFC 306 pay-per-view event in September 2024.
Netflix will maintain exclusive streaming rights for the boxing match, with Mayweather having won the first contest against Pacquiao when the two fought at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 2, 2015.
Both competitors are scheduled to fight in exhibition contests prior to meeting in September, as Pacquiao will take on Ruslan Provodnikov on April 18 while Mayweather is set to fight former boxing champion Mike Tyson just one week later.
At 47 and 48 years old, respectively, Pacquiao and Mayweather were unable to compete against one-another until the late stages of their professional boxing careers, but are well-known as two of the most notable draws in boxing currently. Mayweather retired after finishing his career with a 50-0-0 record, while Pacquiao stands at 62-8-3 and has won championships in eight different weight classes.
Whether the fight will bring enhanced visitation to Las Vegas remains to be seen, but its scheduling helps shine a light on the expanded efforts made to bring the city back to normalcy in 2026.
During December 2025, the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) reported a 1.6% decrease in gaming revenue to $1.4bn, including a 6.1% fall in Las Vegas Strip gaming revenue to $827.7m.
The Mayweather–Pacquiao rematch also comes just days before the annual Global Gaming Expo (G2E) conference, which is held at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas and scheduled to run from September 28 to October 1.
The NGCB filed a civil enforcement action against Kalshi in Carson City District Court on February 17, requesting an injunction to prohibit the operator from offering ‘unlicensed wagering in violation of Nevada law’
