Ukraine’s gambling regulator PlayCity has imposed fines exceeding ₴4m following a scheduled compliance inspection of a gambling operator.

According to a statement released by the regulator, the review identified several breaches of legal requirements governing gambling operations.

The inspection is part of PlayCity’s ongoing oversight of licensed operators and their adherence to national regulations.

Authorities said some of the violations were corrected by the company during the inspection process itself. For the remaining issues, the regulator issued mandatory orders requiring the operator to resolve the irregularities within specified deadlines.

The regulator did not detail the specific nature of the violations but confirmed that the sanctions were applied under Ukraine’s existing gambling legislation and licensing rules.

PlayCity said the enforcement action reflects its continued monitoring of operators to ensure compliance with licensing conditions and regulatory standards.

The Ukrainian Government has also been developing additional oversight tools for the sector, including plans to introduce a nationwide online monitoring system designed to track gambling activity and strengthen regulatory transparency.

The regulator has recently increased its oversight of the gambling sector as part of broader efforts to strengthen regulatory supervision.

Earlier enforcement actions have included fines and sanctions against operators found to be operating outside licensing requirements.

In a previous case, PlayCity fined Favbet for operating without the necessary licence under Ukrainian gambling law.

A recent study examining gambling behaviour in the country found relatively low levels of problem gambling among Ukrainian players, despite the growth of the regulated market.
