PlayCity, the Ukrainian gambling regulator, has summarised the work it has done during the month of February 2026.
A total of 226 illegal gambling websites were blocked using the newly implemented Tracking System, which currently has 3,328 domains in its database.
TikTok proved to be the most problematic social media platform, with 87 accounts caught violating advertising standards compared to 27 pages on Meta.
PlayCity commended the levels of cooperation from these social media platforms in tackling illegal advertising and protecting the users on the sites.
Two gambling companies flouted their licensing conditions this month, resulting in combined fines of UAH 4.7m ($107,295.31).
In particular, these companies failed to submit mandatory reports to PlayCity when asked, used software without the proper certificates and operated gambling equipment that was found to be non-compliant.
Throughout the month, one new licence was issued to an online gambling operator, two B2B licences for the development of gambling software and three licences to the newly selected lottery operators.
Over UAH 107m was collected in licence fees and contributed as revenue to the state budget.
Finally, the State Online Gambling Monitoring System (DSOM) is progressing well and is expected to enter the first stages of tests soon.
The platform is being developed by Kitsoft and runs on the low-code platform, Liquio.
The first tests will monitor how well it oversees financial transactions, as it will be expected to record the stakes, payments and income passing through operators.
At a later point in the test, DSOM will be connected to the market to test its functionality.
PlayCity anticipates that DSOM will enter the second stage of testing later this year, which will see it control slot machine operations, regulate compliance measures and account for payments made in alternate currencies.
