Flutter brands SkyBet and Paddy Power have paid out on a Morocco Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) win following the controversial decision to strip Senegal of their title win by the Confederation of African Football (CAF)

The memorable 2025 AFCON final saw Senegal’s entire team walk off the pitch in protest of a penalty decision awarded in favour of Morocco. After some delay, the team returned to the pitch only to witness Morocco’s Brahim Diaz miss the penalty via an unconvincing ‘panenka’ attempt.

Senegal went on to win the final through a goal in extra time. Two months on from the final, however, the nation has been stripped of its title, with CAF instead awarding victory to Morocco by default – as the confederation ruled that Senegal had formally forfeited the final by exiting the pitch, despite the referee’s on-field decision to continue the game.

A controversial decision, indeed, which Senegal has indicated its intention to protest – stating its refusal to return the trophy as of the time of writing. Nevertheless, the decision remains – however polarising – remains final and, as such, bookmakers in the industry have begun to pay out on a Morocco AFCON win, biting the proverbial bullet after having already paid out on Senegal following the drama of the final back in January.

This latest decision comes following an additional recent early payout by Paddy Power on Arsenal to win the Premier League in early February. More recently, this month SkyBet priced up an Arsenal Premier League win and simultaneous Spurs relegation following the two North London sides’ juxtaposed campaigns this season.
