International Game Technology (IGT), a gambling supplier focused on slot machines and systems, is set to reduce its global workforce by approximately 700 employees, representing around 10% of its staff.
The decision was outlined in a letter to employees from CEO Hector Fernandez, who said the move forms part of a broader review of the business following its acquisition by Apollo Global Management for $6.3bn.
Fernandez said: “The reduction is required to align resources with business priorities and streamline operations, ensuring we are best-positioned for future growth.”
The supplier did not specify how many of the layoffs will affect employees in Nevada, including Las Vegas, where its headquarters is now based following the acquisition.
Fernandez said the cuts were not linked to individual performance but to structural adjustments across the organization.
He commented: “This reflects the structural alignment required to operate as one company, leverage our combined strengths and compete with focus and discipline in a changing industry.”
He added: “The changes we are announcing today are part of that effort to simplify our structure, reduce duplication and enable us to move with greater clarity and speed.”
IGT confirmed that affected employees will receive severance packages, along with outplacement support and transition resources.
The supplier operates across multiple segments, including land-based gaming machines, online slots, systems and financial technology. It is known for titles such as Wheel of Fortune and provides hardware and cabinets used across casino floors globally.
Fernandez acknowledged the impact on staff, stating: “For those remaining, you may feel sadness for colleagues, concern about your teams, or uncertainty about the future. Those feelings are natural in moments like this.”
He added: “What matters now is how we move forward together, supporting one another, focusing on our priorities and continuing the work that will define the next chapter of our company.”
In February 2026, IGT introduced its Rise55 cabinet in Chile through a deployment at Casino Monticello, marking the product’s entry into the market and adding to its global footprint.
IGT provides both land-based gaming hardware and digital solutions, including systems and financial technology for operators
