The Dutch Gaming Authority (KSA) and Denmark’s Spillemyndigheden have launched a joint communications initiative that brings together seven regulatory bodies from across Europe. The KSA visited the Danish regulator to formally launch the European Regulators’ Network on Communication.
At the meeting in Denmark, communication specialists and regulators from seven countries came together for the first time under the new network to discuss communication challenges and explore ways to strengthen public campaigns.
The initiative follows the Player Protection Conference, organised by the KSA in autumn 2025. The conference brought together European experts and regulators to discuss key issues including player protection, tackling illegal online operators and the risks of addiction. Its aim was to strengthen international cooperation in these areas.
The KSA has been very active in player protection initiatives. Earlier this month, it published guidelines on keeping online gambling advertising compliant. These include requirements on font use, limits on the minimum age that can be targeted and options for users to opt out without creating an account.
In February, the regulator released further guidance on its role model ban, which prohibits influencers, streamers and similar personalities from promoting online gambling on behalf of operators.
Recent research by the KSA suggests that growing social acceptance of gambling is contributing to increased participation and making harm more difficult to detect. The study, conducted among 1,000 Dutch residents for the regulator’s OpenOverGokken initiative, found that nearly a quarter of respondents believe gambling is seen as normal within their social circles.
KSA’s mandate includes protecting players from harm and ensuring a transparent gambling market
