Appointment reflects continued focus on the Canadian market

Light & Wonder has appointed Lauren Bates as General Manager for Canada, with responsibility for overseeing its operations across the country.

The supplier said the role includes management of its core business segments, including games, systems and table products, as it continues to develop its presence in the Canadian market.

Bates confirmed the appointment in a public statement, outlining her remit across regional operations and partnerships.

Light & Wonder GM, Canada, Lauren Bates, said: "I’ve stepped into a new role as GM, Canada at Light & Wonder, where I’ll be overseeing all business lines across the region. Canada is an incredibly important market for us."

The appointment consolidates leadership oversight across multiple verticals within the country, bringing together the supplier’s land-based and digital offerings under a single regional role.

Bates also referenced coordination across Light & Wonder’s product portfolio, including its content and systems divisions.

Bates said: "This next chapter is especially meaningful as it brings together the full strength of our portfolio: games, systems and tables."

Light & Wonder operates across both land-based and online gaming segments, supplying content, platform technology and hardware to operators in regulated markets.

Canada remains a key jurisdiction for suppliers due to its provincial regulatory structure and the expansion of online gaming, particularly in Ontario. The appointment comes as suppliers continue to align regional leadership with multi-channel operations across regulated environments.

No further details were provided on additional structural changes linked to the appointment.

Light & Wonder has continued to expand its international footprint through content distribution agreements. In a recent development, the supplier launched Elk Studios titles in South Africa via Hollywoodbets, with more than 30 games approved by regional regulators and further rollout planned across licensed operators.
