Light & Wonder has been awarded a new 10-year contract by the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB), following a competitive public bidding process.
Under the new contract, Light & Wonder will roll out its Connexus Central Communication System (CCS) to meet the IGB’s current and future regulatory needs.
The CCS was created to ensure that state regulators can provide a suitable level of regulatory oversight while maintaining system integrity and data security.
Siobhan Lane, Light & Wonder Gaming CEO, said: “This award reflects more than a decade of trusted collaboration with the Illinois Gaming Board and our proven ability to operate one of the most complex regulated gaming systems in the world.
“Our next-generation Connexus Central System provides the security, scalability, and flexibility required to support Illinois’ market today, while positioning the state for future innovation in responsible gaming and cashless technologies.”
The CCS can assist with providing regulatory and compliance oversight, as well as supporting G2S connectivity and Ticket-In Ticket-Out (TITO) operations.
The IGB hopes this will assist with operational efficiency, while future-proofing the regulator for developments such as cashless gaming support and API integration.
Marcus Fruchter, IGB Administrator, said: “The new Central Communication System will further strengthen our existing regulatory oversight and modernize our technological infrastructure.
“Among other significant enhancements, the new system will enable the IGB’s integration of its Self-Exclusion Program into video gaming and meaningfully advance our commitment to responsible gambling in Illinois.”
Light & Wonder has been the central system provider and operator for the IGB since the market launched in 2012
