Yggdrasil has expanded its presence in South Africa through new partnerships with operators SportyBet and Playco.za.
The integrations provide both operators with access to a portfolio of more than 100 games, including titles such as MexoMax, Bob Marlin Goes Deep, Vikings Go to Olympus and Raptor 2 DoubleMax, alongside content from studios participating in the YGGMasters programme.
The rollout has been facilitated through Intelligent Gaming, enabling both platforms to incorporate Yggdrasil’s content into their existing offerings.
The agreements come as South Africa continues to attract supplier interest as a regulated market. According to the National Gambling Board, the country’s gambling sector generated €75.47bn ($88bn) in turnover during the 2024/25 financial year, highlighting its scale within the region.
Yggdrasil has positioned the launches as part of its broader strategy to expand into regulated markets with established local operators.
Yggdrasil Regional Manager, Giovanni Fodera, said: “South Africa is a strategically important market for Yggdrasil and going live with established brands such as SportyBet and Playco.za is a significant achievement for the company.”
Fodera added: “These partnerships enhance our regional presence, extend the reach of our content and reflect the strong momentum we are building across Africa.”
The supplier continues to focus on distributing its content through local partnerships, with integrations designed to increase accessibility across different markets. The addition of YGGMasters titles also supports third-party studios by extending their distribution across regulated jurisdictions.
South Africa remains one of the more mature gambling markets on the African continent, with regulated operators and established oversight structures contributing to its growth. The latest integrations reflect ongoing supplier activity in the region as operators expand their content libraries to meet player demand.
Yggdrasil has continued to expand in regulated markets globally. In April, the supplier launched with Lottohelden in Germany, introducing more than 100 titles to the operator’s platform and extending its reach within Europe’s regulated landscape.
The rollout built on its existing relationship with Lottoland and formed part of a wider strategy to strengthen distribution across key jurisdictions.
South Africa’s gambling sector includes both online and land-based segments, with betting contributing the largest share of turnover
