The Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the Dutch Gaming Authority, has addressed a recent incident with Holland Casino Online and Vbet.
The regulator received a report that both companies were offering markets on own goals, which was confirmed during an investigation by the KSA.
At the time of the investigation, both Holland Casino Online and Vbet were the only businesses in the market offering wagers on own goals.
According to the Sports Betting Integrity Guide published by the KSA on 22 December 2025, own goals are explicitly mentioned as a market that is not allowed.
This is because own goals are easy to influence and therefore run a higher risk of facilitating match-fixing by players.
The KSA reached out to Holland Casino Online and Vbet, and both companies removed the offers from their respective platforms.
In response to this, both Holland Casino Online and Vbet removed the betting opportunities on own goals and have taken additional measures to ensure this does not happen again.
As the companies responded so earnestly, the KSA considers this incident as sufficiently settled for now.
Sports integrity is a pressing issue for many international regulators at the moment, with the KSA being particularly responsive to the issue.
In early March, the KSA published its annual match-fixing trend analysis for 2025, revealing that while the overall number of reports remained broadly stable, there was a growing threat of athletes betting on their own games.
This was corroborated by the Malta Gaming Authority towards the end of the month, with the regulator announcing plans to review Malta-based athletes as part of a wider effort to address emerging risks linked to sports betting integrity.
