The Brazilian Government has launched an interministerial task force to address growing concerns over match-fixing in sport.
Formed by the Ministries of Finance, Sport and Justice, the group will develop a National Policy to Combat Match-Fixing and protect the integrity of competitions.
The Secretary of Prizes and Betting (SPA) will represent the Ministry of Finance, while the Ministry of Sport will coordinate activities. The national Federal Police will also play a key role.
Authorities said the group aims to create an integrated system for receiving and handling complaints, aligned with international best practices but tailored to Brazil's reality.
The task force has an initial six-month mandate, extendable by a further six. Its first major action will be a national technical meeting to train delegates from Civil Police units and Federal Police superintendencies, ensuring consistent enforcement across the country.
