Ng Wai Han has been renewed as Director of Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) for another one-year term, extending her leadership of the regulator as the territory continues to monitor casino concession commitments and gaming revenue recovery.

The appointment took effect on 7 May, according to an executive order published in the Official Gazette. The order was issued by the Office of the Secretary for Economy and Finance and signed by Chief of Office Lo Chi Fai.

The renewal cited Ng’s “civic integrity, experience and professional competence required for the exercise of her duties.”

Ng first took over the DICJ in May 2025, becoming the first woman to lead Macau’s gaming regulator. She replaced Adriano Marques Ho, who later became Director General of Macau Customs.

Before joining the DICJ, Ng served as Director of the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau from September 2023, following three years as Deputy Director.

She also spent more than two decades at the Labour Affairs Bureau, where she rose to Deputy Director.

Her continued term comes as Macau’s casino sector remains under closer post-concession oversight.

The current concession framework began in 2023 and set limits of 6,000 gaming tables and 12,000 gaming machines across the market.

Macau’s six concessionaires are also required to invest in non-gaming projects, with the regulator expected to continue reviewing how those commitments support diversification.

The DICJ said in March that it would fine-tune the scope of operators’ non-gaming investments this year, while keeping approval standards unchanged.

The regulator said projects should support Macau’s role as a world center of tourism and leisure and contribute to moderate economic diversification.

Macau remains highly dependent on casino revenue, although revenue patterns have shifted toward mass-market play. The Government forecast full-year 2026 casino gross gaming revenue of MOP236bn ($29.4bn), while Q1 2026 revenue reached MOP66bn.
