The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) has appointed Terecina Kwong as its new Executive Director, Membership and Customer Excellence.
She will be responsible for creating member experiences, such as organizing lifestyle and culinary events at the different clubhouses.
The HKJC hopes that by fostering a closer relationship with members through regular events, this could lead to an increased interest in horseracing, horse ownership and even other equestrian sports.
Prior to joining HKJC, Kwong was the COO of HSBC International Wealth and Premier Banking and has several years of experience in sales, product development, channel distribution and operational management.
She also holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, a Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of London, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia.
The HKJC said this was due to increasing costs, but that it would also reinvest in the member experiences, including an expansion to the car park, a digital guest pass system, reopening the Winning Post at the Happy Valley course and redesigning its mobile app.
The organization has already unveiled recent additions to the Sha Tin Racecourse, such as a new arrival hub, interactive jockey lockers and a full-sized robotic horse for photo opportunities.
All of these are part of the current HKJC initiative to attract new - and younger - demographics to the sport.
The organisation has come under some scrutiny recently, after it announced that it would be raising the monthly fee for members by 12.5% to HK$3,150 (US$402)
