Maryland Lottery and Gaming has reported the state’s sports wagering activity for April 2026, as online and retail bettors generated a total handle of $574.2m, representing an increase of 11.8%.
Mobile operations accounted for just over $566.1m of the state’s April 2026 handle, equating to growth of 12.9%. Betting handle produced from retail wagers decreased 34.1% year-over-year to $8.1m, although the vertical was able to increase revenue by 119% to $916,934.

Total revenue generated by operators currently licensed in Maryland was just over $45.9m for April 2026, equating to growth of 8.3%, with mobile revenue increasing 7.2% to $45m.
Maryland bettors took home a combined $454.5m in winnings during April, representing an 11.5% hold for operators.
Sports wagering contributed $9.1m to the state’s Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund and General Fund during April 2026, rising 43.7%. The Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund received close to $6.9m, which goes toward the state’s public education programs.

On May 6, Maryland Lottery and Gaming reported the state’s total casino revenue for April, as the $172.2m generated represents an increase of 5.9%, as well as the highest single-month result over the first 10 months of fiscal year 2026.
MGM National Harbor led all Maryland casino properties with just over $73.9m of revenue, also generating the highest increase at 7.8%.
Live! Casino & Hotel was the only other retail property in Maryland to eclipse the $20m revenue mark, producing $63.3m and rising 7.4%.
Horseshoe Casino and Hollywood Casino were the only properties to report a decrease in revenue from the prior year period, falling 3% and 4.7%, respectively, to $15.1m and $7.5m.
Churchill Downs acquired the intellectual rights to Maryland LLC’s Preakness Stakes and Black-Eyed Susan Stakes races on April 21, with both events typically run at Pimlico Racecourse
