MGM Grand Detroit has appointed Terry Briggs as the operator’s new VP of Slot Operations, where he is set to oversee the property’s slot machine portfolio and evaluate opportunities to optimize its gaming floor.

Briggs most recently served as Director of Slot Operations for Golden Nugget Lake Charles in Louisiana and previously held the Casino Operations Manager role for multiple Penn National Gaming properties.
He also served as Executive Director of Operations at Tortoise Rock Casino, having spent nearly two years with the property. Prior to joining Penn National Gaming, Briggs worked at Bally’s Casino Tunica over a 23+ year tenure.
As part of the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB)’s casino activity report on May 12, MGM Grand Detroit led all properties with just over $58.4m of revenue, equating to an increase of 14.3%.
The state’s total casino and retail sports betting revenue for April 2026 reached $118.9m, representing growth of 8.3% year-over-year. MotorCity Casino and Hollywood Casino at Greektown increased revenue 3.2% and 0.8%, respectively, to $34.1m and $25.5m.
Michigan also managed to generate a retail sports betting handle of $8.7m for April 2026, equating to a decrease of 7%. The vertical’s revenue increased 164.5%, however, reaching $837,397.
