The New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) has reported a new all-time high monthly online sports betting handle for both New York and the wider US market - with bettors in the Empire State having wagered $2.64bn during the month of October.
Keen industry analysts will remember that October 2024 was also, at the time, a record-breaking month for the respective New York and wider US market with regard to online sports wagering - with the NYSGC reporting what was then an all-time monthly handle high of $2.32bn.
New York's results by comparison
Contextually, this latest reported figure represents an advancement of 12.9% year-over-year for the US' leading online sports wagering market, with October 2025 shattering the previous record monthly wagering handle of $2.48bn, which was also set by New York in January of this year. Looking forward, January and March 2026 represent the most likely candidates for further advancements in sports wagering handle records based on historical figures as two of the peak periods of the sports season.
Taking a closer look at these latest results, this wagering handle represents an advancement of 14.2% month-over-month and comes complete with a mobile sports wagering GGR figure of $238.7m, the second-highest recorded during this fiscal year-to-date - outpaced by May's $248.9m. Regarding revenues, October's figure rose by 20.8% month-over-month, also increasing by 30.1% in comparison to results from October 2024.
Fiscal year-to-date
Assessing how these latest results affect New York's fiscal year-to-date cumulative figures, the state has now amassed a handle of $14.39bn for the fiscal year so far, alongside a cumulative revenue figure of $1.41bn. Contextually, the state reported a FY 2024/25 revenue of $23.94bn during the last fiscal year, a figure which the region is on pace to exceed during the FY 2025/26 period.
Elsewhere, net revenues recorded by platform providers in New York State during the year so far has also reached $693.1m.
Results by operator
In a week which saw DraftKings unveil a key new partnership with ESPN, FanDuel - at least in the Empire State - quietly reaffirmed its own dominant position by recording the highest-ever monthly wagering handle reported by an operator. Indeed, the operator posted a wagering handle of $1bn during October 2025, outpacing DraftKings' $937m in the state and setting a new record, becoming the first-ever operator to break the billion mark in this context ahead of its imminent Q3 report scheduled for later this week.
While the two leading operators continue to set the standard, there has also been interesting activity amongst those trailing. Fanatics, the closest behind FanDuel and DraftKings, reported a handle of $205.7m for October, with BetMGM also having overtaken Caesars to occupy fourth place in the state.
