SK Securities CEO Jung Jun-ho has joined a nationwide campaign aimed at tackling illegal gambling among young people.
SK Securities is a financial services company that provides securities brokerage, dealing and underwriting across stocks, bonds, derivatives and foreign exchange as well as investment banking.
The “Campaign to Eradicate Illegal Youth Gambling” was launched by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency in March last year to raise awareness of the risks of illegal online gambling targeting minors and to promote prevention efforts.
Participants nominate the next participant in a relay format. Jeong joined the campaign after being nominated by Shinyoung Securities CEO Keum Jung-ho.
Jeong stated: "SK Securities will actively participate in creating a healthy environment so that future generations can grow up believing in the value of honest effort."
Efforts to combat illegal youth gambling are intensifying across South Korea. This week, Korea Sports Leisure launched an interactive campaign aimed at preventing the issue.
The initiative is being conducted through the company’s integrated integrity platform, “With Toto,” and is designed to promote awareness of gambling risks and responsible behavior.
Meanwhile, the South Korean Government recently announced implementation of a temporary nationwide voluntary reporting system for youth online gambling, starting 18 May and running through the end of August.
The Government plans to connect prevention and response policies for youth gambling, which were previously spread across different agencies.
It is reported that gambling-related crime is on the rise among South Korean youth, including minors turning to illegal loans, as well as fraud and theft
