A digital influencer known online as the “Tiger Goddess” has become the target of a police investigation in Brazil after authorities identified more than BR1.2m in financial transactions over a period of less than six months.
Her nickname is a reference to the Fortune Tiger game, which has Brazil now become something of a signpost for illegal betting operators.
The operation was carried out by the Civil Police of the Federal District (PCDF), which is investigating the alleged promotion of illegal betting and online casino platforms, as well as the possible use of corporate structures to conceal the origin of funds.
According to local reports, the investigation targets influencer Adrielly Maciel, who reportedly has more than one million followers across social media platforms.
Police executed search and seizure warrants and obtained court approval to freeze up to BR600,000 in assets linked to the investigation.
Authorities allege that the influencer continuously promoted illegal online betting platforms while simultaneously displaying a luxury lifestyle that investigators believe may be inconsistent with her formally identified sources of income.
Financial analysis conducted by the PCDF identified hundreds of banking transactions involving repeated deposits, withdrawals and transfers to third parties. Investigators stated that the transaction pattern may indicate attempts to make the movement of funds more difficult to trace.
Electronic devices seized during the operation will undergo forensic analysis as authorities seek to reconstruct the financial flows under investigation and identify any additional individuals who may have been involved.
The PCDF said the inquiry remains ongoing. The influencer could potentially face allegations including illegal gambling operations, fraud, criminal association and money laundering.
