The French regulatory authority, Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ), has officially announced its newest appointments. As Global Gaming Insider already announced, Pascal Chevremont has taken the position of head of the regulator.
Prior to his appointment, Chevremont was questioned in the National Assembly about his leadership of the ANJ while outlining his priorities to the Members of Parliament.
He stated that the fight against illegal gambling is among his top priorities and noted that this should be done by leveraging "the attractiveness of legal options over illegal ones." Furthermore, he emphasised the importance of protecting minors, noting that there are "several avenues for improvement."
Chèvremont has a professional background in public finance, regulatory policy, government relations and organisational oversight. He previously worked at the General Economic and Financial Control (CGefi), the French state’s economic and financial oversight body.
Meanwhile, two new members have been appointed to the college, replacing those whose terms ended on 15 June 2026. They are Isabelle Goanvic, an advisor to the Court of Cassation and Guillaume Airagnes, head of the Addiction Department at the Georges Pompidou European Hospital.
Goanvic, a law graduate and ENM-trained magistrate, has had a double-decade-long career in the French judiciary. Since 2017–2018, she has held senior administrative roles linked to the Ministry of Justice and the Court of Cassation.
Airagnes is a Doctor of Medicine specialising in psychiatry and addictology with a doctorate in epidemiology from the École Doctorale en Santé Publique. Alongside heading the Addiction Department at the stated hospital, he is also a senior lecturer at Université Paris Cité.
The two, respectively, replace Marie-Hélène Mitjavile and Jean-Michel Costes, whom the ANJ thanked for their six years of service.
Pascal Chevremont succeeds Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin, whose term has expired
