Boon will retire after The Lottery Corporation’s AGM on 14 October
The outgoing director has served the operator and its predecessor businesses for more than two decades
The board has started a succession process aligned with its refreshed growth strategy

The Lottery Corporation has announced that Non-executive Director Harry Boon will retire following its 2026 AGM on 14 October.

Boon has served on the Australian lottery and Keno operator’s board since it separated from Tabcorp and listed as an independent business in June 2022. He currently chairs its People and Remuneration Committee.

His involvement with the group’s predecessor businesses dates back more than two decades. Boon joined the Tatts Group board as a Non-executive Director in May 2005 before serving as Chairman from 2007 until the AU$11bn (US$7.84bn) combination of Tatts Group and Tabcorp was completed in December 2017.

The merger brought Australia’s lottery, Keno and wagering assets under Tabcorp. The lottery and Keno operations were subsequently demerged into The Lottery Corporation, leaving Tabcorp focused on wagering and media.

Independent Non-executive Director Tim Poole will become Chair of the People and Remuneration Committee following Boon’s departure. For the avoidance of newsroom confusion, this is The Lottery Corporation’s Tim Poole, rather than his namesake at Global Gaming Insider

Poole joined the board in August 2025 after previously serving as an observer while regulatory and ministerial approvals were completed. He is also Chairman of Endeavour Group.

The committee change comes during a broader transition at The Lottery Corporation. Wayne Pickup became MD and CEO in November 2025, while the operator introduced a new operating model and refreshed strategy during FY26. Its priorities include expanding customer membership, increasing digital participation and developing products less dependent on large accumulated jackpots.

The Lottery Corporation Chairman, Doug McTaggart, said: “Harry’s experience and judgement have been highly valued, including through the establishment and evolution of The Lottery Corporation as a standalone ASX-listed company.”

The board has begun a succession process focused on maintaining the skills and experience required to oversee the strategy. The company’s 2026 corporate governance statement lists seven independent Non-executive Directors alongside Pickup.

The retirement was disclosed alongside results showing the effect of weaker Powerball and Oz Lotto jackpot cycles. The operator reported FY26 revenue of AU$3.58bn, down 2.7% year-on-year, while statutory net profit fell 22.1% to AU$284.6m.
