Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries Group has completed its 2026 recertification audits without any nonconformities, covering compliance, corporate social responsibility, responsible gaming and anti-corruption systems.
The audits began in March and included reviews at the group’s headquarters, alongside site visits to casinos in Linz, Baden, Salzburg, Kitzbühel and Graz. WINWIN outlets in St. Pölten, Hallein and Vienna were also assessed.
Responsible gaming reviews included standards from the European Casino Association, European Lotteries and the Global Gambling Guidance Group. Casinos Austria previously said G4 certification assesses areas including gambling addiction prevention, staff training and transparency.
The audit result lands at a sensitive point for Austria’s gambling sector. The Ministry of Finance remains responsible for supervising licensed gambling operators, with policy objectives including gambling addiction prevention, consumer protection and crime prevention.
Austria’s current model has also come under renewed scrutiny as policymakers examine changes to online casino and land-based casino licensing.
Draft reform proposals reported in June would move online casino away from a single-licence model towards a multi-operator framework, while retaining strict responsible gambling controls.
For Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries, certification remains part of its position as the incumbent operator in a market where player protection and governance standards are central to the policy debate.
The group’s responsibility framework includes player protection, CSR, anti-corruption controls, money laundering prevention, data protection and security standards.
Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries Group CEO, Erwin van Lambaart, said: “Transparency and lasting trust are crucial, especially in sensitive areas like responsible gaming and compliance.”
Casinos Austria AG and Austrian Lotteries GmbH CEO, Martin Škopek, added: “The results of the recertification audits show that our management systems not only meet the formal requirements, but are also operated at a stable and highly professional level.”
The governance update also follows continued legal attention around Casinos Austria’s former management structure. In May, Global Gaming Insider reported that former Austrian Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache returned to court in the long-running Casinos Austria case, centred on the 2019 appointment of FPÖ politician Peter Sidlo as CFO.
The 2026 audit process also reviewed locations outside the group’s headquarters, including five casinos and three WINWIN outlets
