Kalshi has appointed Jovy Dedaj as the operator’s new Head of Litigation, having previously served with Interactive Brokers as Counsel and Assistant General Counsel for nearly five years prior to joining the prediction markets platform.
“After five rewarding years at Interactive Brokers, it's time for the next challenge. I'm excited to be joining the litigation team at Kalshi. Kalshi is redefining event forecasting, information aggregation and risk management, and changing the way institutional and individual investors think about these concepts,” Dedaj said.
“Advocating for something as transformative and impactful as this is what motivated me to become a trial lawyer in the first place – and I'm looking forward to fulfilling this goal and setting new ones with Kalshi!”
The appointment comes as Kalshi continues to face legal uncertainty across the US, having recently seen its preliminary injunction request against the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) denied by New York District Court Judge Analisa Torres on July 8.
“Kalshi has not shown that it is impossible to comply with both New York gambling laws and the CEA (Commodity Exchange Act),” Torres’ ruling stated.
“There is nothing preventing Kalshi from obtaining a license pursuant to New York law and establishing a category of New York market participants that does not discriminate within that New York-resident category.”
The prediction markets operator originally filed for a preliminary injunction and temporary restraining order against the NYSGC in October 2025, part of an attempt to continue offering sports event contracts to residents.
Kalshi also appointed Sudhir Jain as its new Chief Compliance Officer and Head of Regulatory Affairs in May, having previously served as Executive Director for JP Morgan Chase & Co for eight years.
The Supreme Court of Nevada officially denied Kalshi’s emergency motion for stay on July 2, concluding the operator’s attempt to avoid implementing geolocation measures across the Silver State
