Casino del Mar at La Concha Resort in Puerto Rico has finalized a $9.7m refurbishment that forms part of a wider $102m investment committed to The Condado Collection portfolio.
The renovation coincides with the casino's 17th anniversary and reflects Paulson Puerto Rico's plan to expand tourism and gaming infrastructure across the Condado area.
Rolando Padua, President of Paulson Puerto Rico, said: "This remodeling is a reflection of our vision for the future of Puerto Rico and the conviction we have in the growth capacity of the entertainment, hospitality and gambling sectors.
"We bet, without reservations, on creating world-class experiences that continue to expand the economic opportunities of our island. The renovation of Casino del Mar is part of our investment and transformation strategy within The Condado Collection, a conglomerate to which we have allocated $102m to strengthen and expand Puerto Rico's tourism offering."
According to the company, $3.5m of the investment was allocated to the sportsbook area and $1.5m to refurbish the high-limit room. An additional $250,000 went to the main entrance and $200,000 to security upgrades, which included redesigned bathrooms and new screens and televisions.
The renovation also added an entertainment space with a stage and specialized tournament machines, along with $3.3m dedicated to modernization work across the casino floor. Casino del Mar invested $1m in new slot products to support its machine mix and player offerings.
The property also opened the BetMGM Sports Lounge at La Concha Resort, a dedicated sports betting space equipped with high-definition displays and technology integration intended to support live event viewing.
Paulson Puerto Rico stated that the renovation is part of its ongoing strategy to position The Condado Collection properties as destinations that link hospitality, gaming and entertainment. The company noted that Puerto Rico's licensed casinos have expanded their sportsbook capabilities in line with demand for regulated sports wagering.
The overall $102m commitment is intended to keep the group's properties competitive within Puerto Rico's tourism and gaming market.
