Morongo Casino Resort & Spa has appointed Rick Rothenberger as the Tribal property’s new VP of Gaming Operations, where he will oversee casino activity and new innovation across the southern California property. 

“I’m excited to share that I’ve accepted the role of Vice President of Gaming Operations at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa!” Rothenberger said as part of a social media post. 

“I’m incredibly grateful for my time at Agua Caliente Casinos and the opportunities I’ve had to grow as a leader alongside an amazing team. I look forward to this next chapter and the incredible opportunities ahead with the Morongo team.”

Prior to joining Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, Rothenberger served with Agua Caliente Casinos as VP of Slots and as Director of Slot Operations at Soboba Casino Resort. 

Rothenberger also worked as Director of Slot Operations at Golden Acorn Casino & Travel Center, as well as VP of Casino Operations with Sycuan Casino Resort. 

The new Morongo Casino Resort & Spa executive replaces the outgoing Marcus Lucero as VP of Gaming Operations, who was recently appointed as VP of Casino Operations at Jamul Casino Resort on June 11.

Jamul Casino Resort stated Lucero’s hiring comes at a “pivotal” time for the property as it continues to build on recent expansion and new amenities.

“We are thrilled to welcome Marcus to Jamul Casino Resort as our new Vice President of Casino Operations. Marcus brings a proven track record of operational excellence, strategic leadership and guest focused innovation across all facets of the operations,” Jamul Casino Resort President & GM Mary Cheeks said. 

“His depth of experience, commitment to team development and passion for creating exceptional guest experiences make him an outstanding addition to our leadership team.”

Lucero will primarily focus on driving revenue growth and enhancing guest experience, having also served in leadership positions with Soboba Casino Resort and Valley View Casino & Hotel.
