Polymarket adds Yankees partnership to US sports expansion

The deal follows Polymarket’s league-level agreement with MLB and adds Yankee Stadium inventory as prediction markets face continued scrutiny over sports event contracts in the US.

US regulators continue to address how sports event contracts should be treated under federal and state law

Polymarket has become an official prediction market partner of the New York Yankees, extending its sports sponsorship activity into one of Major League Baseball’s individual franchises.

Under the agreement, Polymarket branding will appear at Yankee Stadium for the remainder of the 2026 MLB season. This includes LED displays before and during games and rotating home plate signage during locally televised games on YES Network and Prime Video.

The partnership also gives Polymarket access to hospitality inventory and fan experiences at the stadium, including Kids Run the Bases and line-up card delivery opportunities.

The agreement builds on Polymarket’s existing relationship with MLB. In March, MLB named Polymarket its official prediction market exchange partner and separately entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) covering integrity issues associated with prediction markets.

Polymarket has also expanded its sports relationships outside baseball. In June, it became the official and exclusive prediction market partner of Liga MX in the US, with Genius Sports supplying official data for the settlement of related contracts and supporting integrity information sharing.

The expansion comes as the regulatory treatment of sports prediction markets remains contested in the US. Polymarket US operates through QCX LLC, which is registered with the CFTC as a designated contract market. CFTC records identify QCX as operating under the Polymarket US name, while Polymarket Clearing operates as its derivatives clearing organization.

The CFTC proposed a new framework in June for assessing event contracts involving activities including gaming and sporting events. The proposal would introduce a 90-day review process and public-interest criteria for determining whether individual contracts can be offered.

State authorities have taken a different position in several cases. New York Attorney General Letitia James has argued that sports event contracts offered by prediction markets can fall under state gambling laws, including through a multistate filing supporting Massachusetts’ case against Kalshi.

New York authorities have also warned that the promotion of unlicensed sports wagering could breach state law, creating a regulatory backdrop to Polymarket’s new Yankees sponsorship.

In July, Polymarket restricted access for users in Ireland as scrutiny of prediction market operators increased across European jurisdictions. The move added Ireland to a growing group of markets where access to the platform has been restricted.

MLB’s March agreement with Polymarket included integrity commitments covering prediction markets alongside the league’s separate cooperation framework with the CFTC
