Kalshi has formed a new partnership with The Weather Company to verify outcomes on the operator’s related markets, as well as integrate real-time probability data within The Weather Channel application and website.
“Weather is one of the fastest-growing and most crucial categories at Kalshi because it affects everyone – from individuals and businesses to governments,” Kalshi Head of Partnerships Will Brackett said.
“As prediction markets become a more valuable tool for understanding uncertainty, they offer a new lens to complement the trusted forecasting and expertise The Weather Company delivers every day. We're proud to partner with the world's most respected brand in weather to help people make sense of the world around them.”
The Weather Company will be responsible for providing authoritative observation data used to settle Kalshi’s weather-related markets, featuring a “consistent, documented methodology” for each.
According to the operator, Kalshi’s trading volume on climate and weather has grown 500% year-over-year and is “pacing toward” generating $1.1bn in annualized handle.
The Weather Company VP of Meteorology Dr. James Belanger also spoke on the new collaboration, having said, "When weather data is used to verify outcomes in real time, accuracy and trust matter.
"Our priority is ensuring Kalshi's settlements rest on objective, scientifically validated atmospheric data. Every value we deliver carries a documented method reviewed by our meteorologists and held to the same standard, whether it comes from one official station or is derived from several observation sources."
To expand its presence across sports, Kalshi also formed new multi-year brand partnerships with five Major League Baseball (MLB) franchises on August 25, including the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox and San Diego Padres.
Each agreement will provide Kalshi with in-stadium advertisements, digital and radio promotions and branded spaces, such as naming rights for the Golden Glove Bar at Dodger Stadium.
The new multi-year brand partnerships follow Novig’s inaugural prediction market-MLB collaboration with the New York Mets in July, as well as Polymarket’s agreement with the New York Yankees on August 7.
A Superior Court judge ordered Kalshi to restrict a substantial part of its prediction market offering in Washington on August 14, ruling the state is likely to succeed in its claims against the operator
