The International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) has welcomed SPA’s Fabio Macorin of Brazil to its Board of Trustees.
Macorin serves as Deputy Secretary of Brazil's Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA), part of the Ministry of Finance, where he plays a leading role in implementing, supervising and enforcing the country's federal regulatory framework for fixed-odds betting.
Before joining the Ministry of Finance, Macorin spent 17 years with the Brazilian Federal Police, including a decade focused on banking and financial fraud.
“His experience in law enforcement, anti-money laundering, financial monitoring and illegal-market enforcement brings an important perspective to IAGR’s global regulatory community,” stated IAGR.
The association also confirmed Macorin will also attend the IAGR 2026 Annual Conference in Lima, Peru, from October 19 to 22, joining regulators and industry stakeholders for discussions on challenges and opportunities in modern gaming regulation.
"This appointment represents a valuable opportunity to strengthen Brazil's participation in the international regulatory community and to foster greater dialogue and cooperation with regulators across Latin America and around the world," Macorin said.
“Brazil has undergone an extraordinary regulatory journey in recent years with the implementation of its federal framework for fixed-odds betting. I look forward to sharing some of the lessons we have learned along the way, while also learning from the experience and expertise of fellow regulators from different jurisdictions,” he added.
Macorin concluded by thanking the IAGR Board for the opportunity and credited colleagues at the SPA for their role in Brazil's regulatory progress.
Recently, Mariana Piccoli Lins Cavalcanti was appointed Undersecretary of Sanctioning Action at SPA.
