Light & Wonder has appointed Muthu Palanichamy as its new SVP & GM of Global Systems, where he will oversee the supplier’s Systems business with a focus on advancing global product strategy, long-term customer partnerships and innovative solutions. 

“Muthu brings a unique combination of deep technical expertise, operational experience and a strong understanding of our customers and their businesses,” Light & Wonder Gaming CEO Siobhan Lane said.

“Over the past 16 years, he has played a crucial role in the evolution of our Systems business and has built tremendous trust across our teams and with our customers. We are excited to have him lead the business into its next phase of growth and innovation.”

Palanichamy originally joined Scientific Games in October 2016 as Director of Technical Services, prior to becoming Light & Wonder VP of Global Customer Engagement in 2022. 

The Light & Wonder executive has also maintained leadership roles across client services, operations and systems research & development. 

Speaking on the new appointment, Palanichamy said: “I am incredibly proud to take on this role and continue a journey with Light & Wonder that began 16 years ago.

“We have built a strong Systems business with an exceptional team and a portfolio that continues to evolve alongside the needs of our customers. I look forward to building on that momentum, deepening our customer partnerships and continuing to advance the solutions that help operators get more from their casino floors.”

According to Light & Wonder, Palanichamy played a “key role” in advancing the supplier’s Systems product strategy and driving initiatives focused on innovation, operational excellence and customer success.

On September 16, Light & Wonder SciPlay CEO Josh Wilson announced his intentions to step down from the role by October 30, with current Light & Wonder CFO Oliver Chow set to take over responsibilities for the social casino business. 

The supplier confirmed a search for Wilson’s successor has already commenced, while Chow will remain in his role as Light & Wonder CFO throughout the transition.
